CSPC secures ₱4.9M IMPACT NXT grant

The Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) Technology Transfer Office (TechTrO), with the participation of the DOST-CSPC ASOG Technology Business Incubator (ASOG TBI), has secured a ₱4.9 million grant from the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) under the IMPACT NXT Program.

CSPC is among the 25 higher education institutions (HEIs) nationwide selected for support under the program, which carries a total investment of ₱136 million.

Strengthening tech transfer

The grant will support “IMPACT NXT: Strengthening Technology Transfer and Business Development Operations and Programs of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges,” which aims to advance research outputs and innovations toward technology validation, industry adoption, and market application.

The project will strengthen CSPC’s capacity in technology transfer, business development, and commercialization. It will also support institutional efforts to translate research outputs into technologies, products, services, and enterprises with potential applications beyond the College.

A national push

The IP Management for Academic and Research Institutions Commercializing Technologies (IMPACT) NXT Program is a DOST-PCIEERD initiative designed to strengthen technology transfer and intellectual property management capacities among participating HEIs.

Over its 1.5-year implementation period, the program will provide support for technology protection and transfer policies and processes, capability-building for technology transfer personnel, assessment of research outputs with commercialization potential, intellectual property protection, and technology promotion, licensing, and commercialization.

Through the program, participating HEIs are expected to strengthen pathways that connect university-generated technologies with industry partners, investors, and end-users.

Behind the project

The CSPC project is supported by Dr. Amado A. Oliva Jr., CSPC President, and Dr. Challiz D. Omorog, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Collaboration.

It is led by Ms. Cherry Lyn M. Odsinada, ASOG TBI Project Leader and TechTrO Director, together with Mr. Kevin Capoles, Intellectual Property Management Division Head; Ms. Bernadette Grace D. Delgaco, Science Research Assistant; and Mark Andrian Pontanal, Project Technical Assistant III at ASOG TBI.

Project members also include Dr. Harold R. Terrano, Director of the Research and Development Services Office, and Ms. Kaela Marie Fortuno, Faculty Researcher.
