oMEfi’s offline SOS tech cracks Enactus nat’l top 12

oMEfi, a Cohort 1 incubatee of the DOST-CSPC ASOG Technology Business Incubator, finished among the Top 12 teams in the Early-Stage Project Competition Track of the Enactus Philippines National Competition and Innovation Summit 2026, held on October 9 and 10 at De La Salle University in Manila.

After being selected among the Top 60 from more than 200 nationwide entries in September, oMEfi advanced through successive elimination rounds evaluated by independent judging panels across multiple leagues.

During the national competition, oMEfi advanced to the Top 30, where qualifying teams presented their projects before a new judging panel.

The team subsequently secured a place among the Top 12 finalists.

Offline emergency comms

oMEfi is an offline emergency communication system designed to help communities stay connected when disasters disrupt conventional communication networks.

The system combines a portable emergency keychain with an intelligent responder dashboard. It allows individuals to send SOS alerts without cellular or internet connectivity, enabling emergency requests to reach responders during typhoons, earthquakes, and floods.

Developing new solutions

The Enactus Philippines National Competition 2026 marked the relaunch of Enactus in the country and introduced the Early-Stage Project Competition Track as its official competition category. The track supports student projects in the ideation or early implementation stage and gives participants opportunities to receive expert feedback before their projects generate measurable impact.

Entries were evaluated based on their potential to create sustainable positive social or environmental impact. The projects are expected to mature and eventually compete in the Enactus Core Competition, which will return in 2027.

oMEfi was represented by Gabriel Earl Mariscotes, Harlene Tiangco, and Marvin Magdaraog, under the coaching of Engr. Rizza T. Loquias.
